Over the years, we have perfected our approach to standardized test preparation and college admissions consulting by working individually with families throughout the East Coast. Because we know that not all students or families are able to commit to a rigorous one-on-one process, however, we offer workshops and group classes on a variety of topics. If you are a parent, school administrator, or community member who is interested in hosting or partnering with Y.E.S. Educational Consulting for a workshop, please contact us for more details. We would be happy to provide you with a more detailed outline of any of our current classes listed below, or to design a custom workshop based on your specific needs.

  • ACT or SAT Intensive Workshop
    • Our test preparation intensive workshops introduce students to the essential content and skills they will need to master in order to succeed on the ACT or SAT. Having combed through tests administered from 2011 to 2016, as well as all information released directly from the testing agencies, we know that our curriculum is in line with the specific challenges students will face come test day. We also make it a point to take the test ourselves once or twice a year, both to keep our minds fresh on all material and to test our own stress relief, pacing and section approach strategies.
  • Personal Statement Seminar
    • In this one-day course, students will examine the seven possible Common Application essay prompts and discuss unique interpretations and approaches for each question. Seminar instructors will share tips for best personal essay writing practices, provide examples of effective and ineffective essays, and guide students through forming an initial draft of their essays. Students will also be provided with editing tools and tips to take home to help them continue to perfect their essays.
  • Common Application Workshop
    • In this two-hour overview workshop, an instructor will walk both students and parents through all sections of the Common Application, including how to create an account, add and edit schools, view important additional information for each institution, create a full and effective profile, and submit all necessary materials. Students are invited to bring their laptops and begin working on their applications throughout the seminar.
  • College Research & Visit Seminar
    • In this three-hour seminar, students and parents are introduced to the essential methods for both researching and touring colleges effectively. Instructors walk attendees through best practices for performing online research, scheduling tours, visiting campuses, and evaluating impressions based upon the gathered information. Participants will leave this seminar with a clear plan and calendar for tackling college visits.
  • Supplemental Essay Workshops
    • In this four-hour workshop intended for seniors who have already begun filling out applications, students are invited to work with professional instructors on any supplemental essays they have for colleges. Essay coaches will begin the seminar by going over a list of Dos and Don’ts when it comes to supplemental essays. Following this training, students will be paired with essay coaches to begin writing or perfecting their essays. Students will leave this workshop having completed or nearly completed up to two supplemental essays.
